LearningPlanet's content and platform have won 11 industry awards since 2021, including the 2025 LearnX Platinum Award for Best E-Learning Project (this MSD programme) and the 2025 Corporate Vision Award for Best Global Soft Skills Microlearning Provider. The full award entry — covering project background, plan, implementation and effectiveness in detail — is available as supporting material on request, along with MSD-facing programme documentation.

Programme results to date: 93% course completion rate, 72% job placement rate, 400+ people employed across 100+ organisations including Air New Zealand, Spark, One NZ (Vodafone), ANZ, Suncorp and Tower Insurance, and learner confidence rising from 54% to 90% pre- to post-course.

What You Will Take Away

  • How to design microlearning that holds up at national scale without losing personalisation.
  • A practical model for blending self-paced eLearning with live coaching and facilitation to support learning transfer, not just completion.
  • How to build evaluation into a programme from day one so impact (not just satisfaction) can be reported to funders and stakeholders.
  • Lessons from a five-year funded partnership: what MSD, CCNNZ and employer partners each needed from the design, and how that shaped decisions.
  • An honest look at what it takes to win industry recognition (LearnX Platinum) for a programme judged on background, plan, implementation and effectiveness — criteria that mirror good L&D practice generally.

Competency Framework:   Adult Learning Principles, Instructional Design, eLearning

Speaker: Learning Planet's Derek Good

LearningPlanet is a New Zealand-based microlearning provider that has worked with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) since 2020 to help job seekers build the skills and confidence to enter the contact centre and customer service workforce. In 2026 this partnership continues as part of MSD's Digital Suite of employment-support tools.

The Virtual Contact Centre Programme, delivered with MSD, the Contact Centre Network of New Zealand (CCNNZ) and Phoneplus, has achieved a 93% course completion rate and a 72% job placement rate, with over 400 people employed across more than 100 organisations. In 2025 the programme was awarded the LearnX Platinum Award for Best E-Learning Project — one of eleven industry awards LearningPlanet's content and platform have won since 2021.
